Jong A Fie is an entrepreneur, banker, and industrialist of Tionghoa (Chinese Ethnic). He was born in Meixian, Sunkow, Kuangtung province, in China in 1860. Tjong A Fie came from Mexian to Medan in 1875 with only a few silver coins in his hand. Together with his brother named Tjong Yong Hian, they managed to build a business in the plantation sector. His own company employs more than 10,000 employees, and he became one of the richest people in Sumatra Tionghoa.
