Kotabaru, or used to be called Nieuwe Wijk, was a growing area that began in 1920 as a consequence of Small Loji region. Progress of the sugar industry, plantations and the increasing interest in developing education and health brought the total number of Dutch people who settled in Yogyakarta has been increasing. Kotabaru a residential area is fully equipped alternative, parallel to the Menteng area in Jakarta. Different impression will be obtained once entered the region.
